They may also help to elevate our moods as they are quickly absorbed by the smell receptors, which have a direct link to the limbic system that is the part of the brain supporting functions such as smell, emotions, behaviour, and memory.
For this reason, essential oils may enable us to gain access to stored, forgotten memories and suppressed emotions so that we can acknowledge, integrate and/or release them. Some essential oils can help with tension headache, stress & anxiety.

Essential oils can easily penetrate the skin so they can be used topically when trying to get the oils quickly into the bloodstream or for direct application.
Some of the best places on the body to apply essential oils are the bottoms of the feet, spine, and back of the neck.
Since they are so highly concentrated, it is always best to dilute essential oils with a carrier oil (such as coconut, almond, jojoba) to decrease the likelihood of developing a skin sensitivity.

Some essential oils can be used internally. Always check that the bottle has a “Supplement Facts” box on the label before ingesting. If an oil does not have a supplement fact, it is better suited for aromatic and topical use.
