What is Aromatherapy Massage?

Aromatherapy is a specific type of therapy that incorporates the use of scented essential oils into a massage.

Aromatherapy massage combines two therapeutic practices to create wonderful results, by enhancing the benefits of traditional massage with the holistic benefits of scented essential oils

Essential oils are extracted from the plant’s essence, which is the cell that give a plant its fragrant smell. The oils may activate areas in the nose called smell receptors, which send messages through the nervous system to certain areas of the brain, such as the limbic system, which plays a role in your emotions. They could also have an impact on your hypothalamus, which may respond to the oil by creating feel-good brain chemicals like serotonin. This is one the reason why aromatherapy is thought to directly impact your mental wellbeing and promote restorative sleep

Depending on your symptoms we will choose the best essential oils to use in your treatment to enhance the benefits of the therapeutic massage.

What is Aromatherapy massage good for?

The combo of fragrance and therapeutic touch may help you:

  • Decrease stress and anxiety - enhancing the relaxation effect by using oils such as lavender and chamomile, which both have calming properties

  • Headache Relief - by combining pressure points on the head& face with oils like peppermint or ylang ylang

  • Improve Circulation - by boosting your circulation with oils like sandalwood, juniper berry, cypress, grapefruit, and frankincense

  • Enhance Mental Well-Being - by boosting your mood with citrus oils

  • Reduce Pain and Inflammation -  using peppermint oil which is both cooling and invigorating
