3 Great Treatments to Help With Chronic Pain

Living with chronic pain is probably one of the hardest things that you’ll ever have to deal with. It’s such a sad situation as everything you do always means having a storm cloud looming over your head, you never know when things will be bad but even when they’re good they’re not necessarily great.

The hardest thing can be thinking about your old life and how easy you used to find things, or watching other people do things effortlessly when you know for you that it involves a ton of planning and hope.

But there are some options that can make life that bit easier for you, and these can work really well alongside the medication you’ve been prescribed by your doctor. As we all know that while pain meds can be helpful they’re not exactly a perfect science. Here are some treatments to consider.

Hands massage a person's lower back on a white surface to relieve chronic back pain. They're wearing a gray top. The setting is calm and focused on relaxation.

Chiropractor

If you’re someone that has chronic back pain or maybe a nerve issue like fibro then sometimes seeing a chiropractor might help. If the pain’s coming from your back or something not sitting where it should be, having this adjusted might mean that you can move a bit easier afterwards or it might take some pressure of a nerve or disc.

A trusted chiropractor can give you back more range of motion and that can help you to move around more and maybe even do some light exercise to strengthen up your muscles. This can help some people to break the cycle of back pain leading to weak muscles leading to more back pain (although mechanical back pain like this doesnt explain all cases).

Massage

Massage gets written off by people as being some kind of luxury that they can/ should live without, but when you’re living with daily pain it’s basically survival.

It’s not about going and having a lovely pamper session, a proper deep tissue massage can be really good for all kinds of pain. It releases endorphins too which can help you to feel better and deal with your pain better as well.

If you stop thinking about it as a beauty treatment/ luxury service and start thinking about it as a medical necessity then you’re in a much better place to spend the money on it and actually invest in yourself.

Acupuncture for Chronic Pain

Acupuncture can sound a bit strange if you’ve never tried it because lets face it, the thought of someone putting needles into you does not exactly scream comfort! But they’re only tiny, and you barely feel them, and it is nowhere near as dramatic as it looks in photos.

It works on pressure points around the body that can help calm your nervous system, and for some people it takes that sharp edge off things.

When you’re in pain every day you know how much it matters to not feel like you’re constantly fighting your body, so lots of people like to go for regular sessions to keep everything in check.
